CATEGORY LAUNCHES

The Ordinary: A year ago, Deciem, the parent company of The Ordinary, announced its anti-clean beauty stance. The brand, known for its straightforward ingredient-driven approach to skincare, is expanding into haircare. The formulations and packaging highlight the use of sulphates, the cleansing and foaming agent that's been shunned by the "clean" beauty movement. Adding to its Hair Serum that launched in 2018, the brand added a three-step approach includes Sulphate 4% Cleanser for Body and Hair ($8), Behentrimonium Chloride 2% Conditioner ($8), and Natural Moisturizing Factors ($12.80). More hair products are slated to launch next year.

Jeffree Star: The beauty influencer and YouTube star-turned-entrepreneur who launched Jeffree Star Cosmetics in 2014 is now expanding into skincare. The seven-SKU clean skincare range reflects Star's everyday essentials. Jeffree Star Skin has two hero products: Morning Dew Hydrating Eye Cream and Magic Star Hydrating Moisturizer. More products are in the pipeline, and wholesale partnerships are also in the works.

Plant Apothecary: Following the debut of a rebrand last year with the launch of six skincare SKUs, the company is relaunching its body care. Inspired by previous blends, the team worked with a fragrance expert to build the essential oil complexes to deliver aromatherapeutic benefits to supplement the nourishing formulas. The four new scents—Be Well, Start Happy, Get It On, and Calm Down—are available in body wash ($25) and body bars ($15).
